Aerial photography - Ancient Gallery

The Antiference ‘Hi-lo’. This was a combined Band I and Band III array. The two element BI section is not a dipole and reflector; it’s a dipole and director. As a result these aerials were hopeless for ghosting on BI. The seven BIII elements couple to the BI dipole. These arrays were normally fixed on a swan neck mast so that the mast was not between the elements, and to give a better chance of finding a corner of the chimney to fix to where the bottom of the BI elements did not clash with the masonry. The junction box cap was a small rectangle of plastic which often fell off, and that often led eventually to the whole array being scrapped, because the terminal screws would rust solid. This example is for channels 1 and 9.

Thanks to Pete for this shot.
