Aerial photography - Ancient Gallery

This is a centre fed half wave dipole for the old BBC 405-line service on channel B4, vertically polarised. The single dipole was probably the most popular aerial in good reception areas in the 1950s. What makes this one special is the swept back aerodynamic design, reminiscent of the delta wing jets that were so sexy at the time. Whether this curious design feature increased gain, directivity, bandwidth, or merely street cred I don’t know.
